Set default email program

I want to use Microsoft Outlook as my email client instead of Outlook Express. When I try to set up an account in Outlook I'm asked for server addresses, which I don't understand.

I've tried copying across the addresses from Outlook Express, but they don't work. I get error messages in Outlook when I click the 'send/receive mail' icon. What addresses is Outlook asking for?

The addresses needed by Microsoft Outlook for the Incoming (POP3) and Outgoing (SMTP) mail servers should be the same as those used by Outlook Express. Make sure that you have entered your username and password as well.

However, Microsoft Outlook comes in two versions. To use it as an Outlook Express replacement you need to install it with the 'Internet Mail Only' option.

To see if you have installed the right version look in 'About Microsoft Outlook'. You should see 'Internet Mail Only'. If not, you'll need to uninstall and then reinstall it. See also tips Change your default home page and Set default web browser
